BETTER Farm Beef Challenge NI

The BETTER Farm Beef Challenge NI is a joint venture between the Irish Farmers Journal (IFJ), Anglo Beef Processors (ABP) and College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE). The programme aims to improve the profitability and sustainability of suckler farms across Northern Ireland. The programme objective is to simply produce the highest gross margin possible on the 10 programme farms over the next three years, by focussing on improving the level of technical efficiency inside the farm gate.

This is the third group of farmers involved in this project which has been very successful in demonstrating how improvements in suckler cow and beef finishing management can lead to improved profitability on all of the participating farms.

The weekly reports in the IFJ, provide an update on issues being faced by participating farmers and documents each farmer’s journey in making significant practical changes and enhanced business management decisions.
