Sustainability award for CAFRE, Food Innovation Centre

The Food Innovation Centre at CAFRE, Loughry Campus has successfully achieved Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Model (BREEAM) Excellence under the BREEAM New Construction 2011: Education category. The centre has incorporated in its design solar photo voltaics, biomass heating, rainwater collection and use of electric vehicles. It is one of the first Northern Ireland buildings to receive excellent rating at both the design and the post construction assessments using this 2011 education standard. This project exemplifies CAFRE’s ongoing commitment to being at the forefront of innovation and sustainability.
