Darley Supports CAFRE Students Race Towards A Bright Future
Staff and final year degree students welcomed Joe Osborne, Managing Director of Kildangan Stud to CAFRE, Enniskillen Campus on Monday 13th of October 2014 to launch the second year of the Darley Bursary.
CAFRE and Darley are delighted to work together to provide the equine industry with fresh, knowledgeable and enthusiastic young minds. The Darley Bursary will be awarded to the successful final year student on the BSc (Hons) Equine Management Degree programme at CAFRE, Enniskillen Campus at the Equine Careers Event to be held at the Campus on Wednesday 11th February 2015.
To apply for the Bursary students will be asked to submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a Personal Statement/Career Plan. Each student will receive individual feedback from Darley regarding their submission. Production of CVs, personal statements and interview techniques are all topics which are covered with students as part of their programme of study with the aim of contributing to their personal development and developing their employability skills.
Mr Osborne led a workshop with students which focussed on the production of a CV which was likely to get them to the interview stage. He highlighted the importance of achieving good qualifications, appropriate work experience and of developing good teamwork and interpersonal skills. He said, “We have a longstanding involvement with CAFRE and a number of its graduates have joined Darley after their studies. We have always been impressed by the College’s level of engagement with the thoroughbred industry and with the standard and range of training it provides. We hope the Darley bursary and our interaction with the participating students will help them in their careers.”
Mr John Fay, CAFRE Director, thanked Darley for their willingness to support young people participating in the equine degree programme at Enniskillen Campus. He stated, “I am extremely grateful to all our bursary providers and delighted that Darley continues to support CAFRE students by making a financial contribution to assist them with their studies. I am particularly delighted that Darley will provide each equine student with individual feedback regarding their CVs and Personal Statements/Career Plan”
