Excellent Industry Support for Equine Careers day at CAFRE
Equine Careers Day was a great success at CAFRE Enniskillen Campus. A wide range of equine businesses and organisations were in attendance to speak with students and staff.
Speaking at the event CAFRE Director, John Fay said: “Equine Careers Day is one of a range of activities organised at Enniskillen Campus to help students prepare for a career in the equine industry. I am particularly pleased to note the excellent collaboration between CAFRE Enniskillen Campus and key stakeholders within the industry to organise this top class event at Enniskillen. By working together, each organisation has been able to play to its strengths and target resources for the ultimate benefit of the equine industry.”
Recently CAFRE has been working with leading organisations in the land based sector and has developed a bursary programme to offset some of the costs incurred by students undertaking higher education courses. Bursaries, each worth up to £1000 were presented to students by Coolmore, Danske Bank, Darley, Giltspur Scientific Ltd, the Irish Farmers Journal, the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, Tyrone Farming Society, the NI Horse Board with further support provided by MSD Animal Health.
The Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (ITBA) Chairman, Joe Osborne commented on behalf of the industry, “Enniskillen Campus is an excellent asset for the equine industry in the North and for the Island of Ireland as a whole. Careers Day is an example of excellent collaboration between the Campus and industry. The industry representatives present today are delighted to support Enniskillen Campus students as they prepare for their future careers.”
