27 July 2010

Students from the Agricultural Technology Degree recently celebrated their graduation day at Queen’s University Belfast. This year’s group of eighteen graduates from the School of Biological Sciences included a bumper harvest of five First Class Honours Degrees, with many already having found employment in the industry.

Agricultural Technology degree students spend the first  two years of their course at CAFRE Greenmount, finishing their final year at Queen’s after a period of work placement.

Alan Lockhart, from Newry, who will shortly be heading off to Oxfordshire for the harvest, obtained a First Class Honours degree. Alan was the recipient of the Ulster Farmers Union (UFU) prize for perfomance on the enterprise technology and management modules. He stated “I really enjoyed my first two years at CAFRE”.

Among the other prize winners were Emma Barbour, from Annalong, who received the award for Top student on the degree course, and Paul Reaney, from Armagh, who received the DARD award for top marks in professional studies during work placement.
