The Northern Ireland Heat of the Institute of Horticulture Young Horticulturalist of the Year competition was held recently at Greenmount Campus Antrim. A large entry of 57 young horticulturists battled it out for first prize and the chance to represent N. Ireland in the Irish final which will be held at The Botanic Gardens Dublin later this month.

After forty five taxing questions Declan McKenna and Christopher Foye who are currently first students on the Foundation Degree in horticulture came out as top students the runner up was William Anderson a part- time student.
