    Loughry Campus provided the opportunity for sixth form students, from schools across Northern Ireland, to become consumer experts for the day as they investigated the effect of marketing techniques employed by the food industry on consumer buying behaviour
  • Equine students visit Moy Riding School
    Students from the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), who are currently studying the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management, recently visited local equine businesses to consider the importance of Business Management.

    Students on veterinary nursing courses at the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise, Greenmount Campus (Antrim) have many opportunities to learn of the latest developments in animal care and veterinary nursing. They were delighted when Janet Winter from Merial came to the Campus recently to talk to them about important veterinary topics including parasite control and vaccination.

    Enniskillen Campus provides the widest range of equine courses in Ireland from Level 2 Diploma to Degree Level to suit student’s individual ability and needs. Our courses have also been designed to help students progress from one level to the next so that they can achieve their full potential

    The CAFRE Equine Industry Conference takes place next week on Tuesday 20th March 2012 commencing at 7.15 p.m. in the Armagh City Hotel. The Conference theme is ‘Health and Performance in the Equine Athlete’.

  • Enniskillen students prepare for the upcoming Show season
    CAFRE Enniskillen Campus students are once again preparing for the upcoming show season. The equitation students have the opportunity to ride at a variety of competitions and schooling sessions on college horses. This help students broaden their equitation skills, develop their pre and post competition care whilst ensuring that their turnout is up to show standard. Recently students brought six CAFRE horses to Moira Equestrian Centre where they schooled over the excellent cross country fences while others acted as grooms for the day. With the excellent weather it was a great day out where students gained valuable experience in preparation for their next outing
  • Equine students enjoy their stud tour
    It was an early start for the second year BSc (Hons) Degree students on Wednesday morning, 22nd February 2012. At 7.00am, all the students boarded the minibus and set off on their two day trip to visit a number of famous Thoroughbred and Sport Horse studs around Ireland.
  • Co Down Student Wins UFU Bursary at Greenmount
    Adam Black, from Castlewellan, has recently received a £1,000 bursary from the Ulster Farmers’ Union at the Greenmount Campus of the College of Agricultural Food and Rural Enterprise.
  • Work Based Diploma in Agriculture students enjoy an Educational Trip to Scotland
    The main aim of the tour was to reinforce the learning outcomes taught in the Level 3 Work based Diploma in livestock production. During the course of the tour they visited a range of farm enterprises.
  • Show Jumping Demonstration
    BSc (Hons) in Equine Management degree students are running an evening demonstration with Gabriel Tunney at Necarne Castle, Irvinestown. Gabriel has competed for Ireland in international show jumping events and is a member of the CAFRE Enniskillen equitation instruction team.
