Loughry students, from the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), recently organised a campus charity fun day the proceeds of which were donated to the charity ‘Stepping Stones Nigeria’. The charity works to protect, save and transform the lives of vulnerable children in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria.
During an action packed day the students started with a charity auction followed by a raft race and ended the day with a highly successful barbeque and disco. The event was supported with donations of food and prizes from the following companies who the students would like to thank for their generosity; Avondale Foods, Coca Cola, Diageo, Dunbia, Smurfit, and Quinn Glass.
The Students’ Representative Council President Hilary Andrews has been encouraging the student body to support a range of charities this year and this event raised £1200 which is evidence of the students organisational skills and a caring attitude, attributes that will be invaluable for future employers.
