Communication graduates and staff from the past forty years gathered together recently for a reunion dinner at Loughry Campus, College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE).
The event provided a great opportunity for staff and students to catch up with old friends and exchange stories of their time at the campus. This was the last in a series of reunion dinners to mark Loughry’s centenary and it had an extra birthday flavour as it also marked the fortieth Birthday of the Communication courses at Loughry.
Past student Mr Ian Titterington, Head of Education Service at CAFRE spoke briefly about the history of the course and the changes that had occurred over the years: “Loughry’s communication programme is unique. The post-graduate courses lead to qualifications awarded by the Queen’s University of Belfast and are taught entirely outside Belfast by Loughry staff. It took great vision to start the programme and over the years it has produced many high calibre graduates who have made a valuable contribution to the Northern Ireland agri-food industry and the rural community.”
