The value of returning to education as a gateway to personal and career enrichment was emphasised recently at CAFRE Awards Day, Loughry Campus, Cookstown. Students graduating with an Advanced Diploma in Personal and Business Communication described the day as a notable milestone stating that their success was like experiencing a sweet delicacy.
Reflecting on her achievements Kate McStravick commented “the course has not only shaped my approach to my day-to-day life but also how I communicate with others and how I think about my future career. The course also helped me realise that the opportunities available are endless”.
Several students were also asked for their impressions of the job market. Eimear McCreesh who has recently been employed as Longford/Westmeath coordinator for Irish Homecare Services less than two weeks after graduating stressed the importance of returning to education in order to improve your CV and pursue your dreams. Eimear stated "I firmly believe that the skills and experience I gained whilst studying on the Advanced Diploma have been invaluable in helping me secure worthwhile employment"
Selecting an appropriate course that facilitates the transition back into education was key for Jacinta Reel who had been away from education for a period of time. Jacinta wanted to find a course that considered the unique backgrounds of individuals returning to education and commented “the learning environment is informal, everybody bonded well and it is the perfect course to meet a diverse array of people”.
The Advanced Diploma aims to provide people with the necessary communication skills required to work in business, community or rural development sectors. It offers a unique opportunity to get back onto the learning ladder, enhance career prospects and gain a recognised Queen’s University qualification. The programme is suitable for people at all stages of their careers and is particularly relevant for those who feel that the lack of qualifications is hindering their career progression.
If you are looking for a course that will give you the confidence and skills you need to develop yourself and enhance your career prospects then the Advanced Diploma in Personal and Business Communication could be just what you are looking for. The next programme is scheduled to begin in September, 2011.
