The Recipe for the Perfect Career
02 September 2010 Loughry student Elaine Crozier should know! She’s on placement at Evron Foods in Craigavon, famed for their specialty breads. Here’s Elaine’s recipe: Ingredients: “There are several main ingredients for a career in food. I would say the main one is to have an interest in it! Having some GCSE’s in science subjects is also key”. Mix: “At Loughry I’ve met some amazing friends – people from different backgrounds but with the same interest – getting one of the well paid jobs in the food industry! We’re all blended together in class where the practicals make it interesting and fun to learn” Allow the mixture to prove: “Between first and second year of our National Diploma we all get a summer placement. This is our chance to show our employer what we know…and what we’ve still got to learn!” Bake: “Loughry courses are very hands-on so when you combine practicals, placements, visits and even assessments together we start to realise that we’re going to make a very employable end product” Cool: “At the moment there are loads of really good jobs in food. I’ve got my eye on a few areas – I really enjoy developing new products and dealing with customers. That’s pretty cool!” Enjoy: “Loughry is a great place to study. It’s really well equipped for training students for a career in the food industry” Loughry has still some places on all courses for September 2010.
