Greenmount Association tree seminar

The Greenmount Association was delighted with support for the recent Tree Seminar which was held at the campus.  

Dr Mark Johnston discussed the main findings and recommendations of the report “Trees in Towns II”.

Dr Alistair McCracken discussed the importance of tree health when managing trees. During this session the main tree health issues important in tree-management including Sudden Oak Death, Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker, Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner, Pine (Scleroderris) Canker, Asian Longhorn Beetles and Pine Wilt Nematode were explored.

Brian Poots from the Woodland Trust outlined the steps in creating woodland and the impact of climate change on establishing and maintaining woodland.
