- Enjoying food with all five senses
Over 2000 children took part in the Slow Food Taste Adventure organised by Food NI which was held in the NI Good Food Pavilion at this year’s Balmoral Show. Guiding the children through the challenge was a team of ND Food Technology and Food, Nutrition and Health students from CAFRE’s Loughry Campus.

Representatives from the YFCU (Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster) were recently given a preview of the improvements made to APHIS Online. They all agreed that the new features would help make it easier for herd owners to manage their herd records online
- Pupils sample food technology careers at Loughry
Throughout the year a number of sixth form pupils have taken the opportunity to sample the work of a food technologist, by participating in the schools work placement programme at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus, Cookstown

The Greenmount Association are once again pleased to work in conjunction with and provide support to the Greenmount Campus Student Council members.
- Loughry food students ‘have their cake and eat it’!
At CAFRE’s Loughry Campus, not only are courses designed with a strong practical element including work placement, but students regularly visit food manufacturing businesses. As part of their Food Technology qualification, first year National Diploma students recently enjoyed a visit to Howell House Bakery, Lisburn.
