  • Summer farm welding courses
    Are you interested in improving your farm welding skills? If so, you should give some thought to attending the Basic Farm Welding course at CAFRE. The courses, which will be based in Greenmount Campus, will start in mid July 2010 and will run during the day.

    Each year the agri – food industry provides substantial bursaries to students commencing Higher Education courses at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus
  • Greenmount students see it all at Scotgrass
    Twenty three National Certificate in Land-based Technology students from CAFRE, Greenmount Campus enjoyed a recent Study trip to the Scotgrass event at Dumfries. The event was held on a 120 acre site at the Acrehead Unit of the Scottish Agricultural College’s Crichton Royal campus
  • Floristry students' creative support for Women's Aid
    Floristry students from CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus were delighted to assist leading European designer Richard Haslam with his demonstrations at Garden Show Ireland, Hillsborough Castle. Richard is a winner of Gold Medals from the Chelsea Flower Show and holds both the National Diploma Society Floristry (NDSF) and the American Institute of Floristry Designers (AIFD) qualifications. Between demonstrations the students created table centres and wedding accessories for display on the CAFRE stand

    The Open Evening at Loughry Campus, Cookstown on Tuesday 22nd June between 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. will present the perfect opportunity for recent graduates and those already in employment to see if the communication course “matches” your requirements for skills
  • Innovation at Loughry Campus
    Loughry campus played host once again this year to Avondale Foods, at the judging of the annual New Product Development competition. National Diploma Food Technology and Food Nutrition & Health students had been working in groups since January to actively innovate, create, test, modify and package a range of added value vegetable products, before showcasing their best to Diane Christie and Gemma Wilson from Avondale Foods
  • Realities of Hill Farming
    CAFRE students on HND in Agriculture and BSc in Agricultural Technology courses have the option to experience working on the CAFRE 1000-hectare hill farm at Glenwherry. This is a unique hands-on learning experience as part of their studies on the UPLANDS
