Loughry Packaging Student wins International Accolade
21 July 2010 Loughry student Gemma Seery has won the 2010 Starpak Award for the top student of the year on the Diploma in Packaging Technology. This prestigious award is presented annually by the Packaging Industry Awarding Body Company to the student achieving the highest marks on the Packaging Diploma course. Gemma studied the Packaging Diploma at Loughry Campus, which is part of the College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise in Cookstown. Gemma is employed as a Research and Development Manager for Irish Breeze a manufacturer of skincare products. Gemma commented “It is a great honour to be recognised with a Starpak award, the Packaging Diploma is an excellent way to access knowledge and experience in packaging materials, properties and emerging technologies. Loughry delivers the Diploma as a balance of classroom based teaching with practical site visits and the packaging facilities and staff at the campus are excellent. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone who wants to know more about packaging.” For further information on the Diploma in Packaging technology and other packaging courses offered by Loughry Campus contact Ron Gardiner on 028 8676 8209 or email ron.gardner@dardni.gov.uk
