Cousins on the pathway to success
07 July 2009

Cushendall cousins Ciara and Maria McAllister made it a family affair when they graduated with National Diplomas in Food, Nutrition & Health at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus.

Both students made the switch from school two years ago, choosing a BTEC National Diploma as an alternative to A-Levels. Loughry’s commitment to delivering practically orientated courses in world class facilities allowed these girls to excel.

Now, with other colleges keen to snap them up, the girls are returning to CAFRE to study for their Honours Degrees.

Ciara enjoyed the challenges of food manufacture and having spent her 12 week placement with a ready meal manufacturer, she’s looking forward to a career in Technical Management and is electing to study Food Technology. Maria on the other hand enjoyed her placement working in the sales office of a busy pork processor. As a future business woman she will study Food Management & Marketing at Loughry in September.

Loughry courses all produce highly employable students. If you are interested in joining the path to success, come along to Loughry’s Open Evening on Thursday 27 August.
