CAFRE courses open up the world of Greenkeeping
12 August 2010 David McGarrity is currently employed by Kilkeel Golf Club as Assistant Head Greenkeeper and has just completed first year of the Level 3 Advanced National Certificate in Sports and Amenity Turf Management at Greenmount campus. He has really enjoyed the course because it focuses on the supervisory aspects of greenkeeping and builds on the foundation laid by the NVQ2 course which David completed several years ago. He has also benefitted from discussions, and arguments, with other greenkeepers in the class! David’s progression through the CAFRE courses has been in step with his career development, which started at Massereene Golf Club, Antrim, then Castletroy Golf Club, and Adare Manor Golf Resort, both in Limerick. During that time he took opportunity to travel and experienced greenkeeping in Australia and the Philippines. Despite all the pressures of work David still loves the job of greenkeeping and relishes the opportunity to put his learning into practice.
