Nicola is 'cream of the crop'
12 August 2009

Nicola Gillespie, a first year Food Technology degree student at Loughry Campus has certainly proved that she is the cream of the crop by winning a Dale Farm Bursary.

Dale Farm, Northern Ireland’s leading dairy company, offered first year Food Technology degree students at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus the opportunity to compete for a bursary to support the intake of young students into the food industry. The bursary award includes seasonal summer work placements, a one year sandwich placement and full time employment post successful graduation.

The bursary opportunity was very well received by the Loughry students. After initial application, selected candidates were interviewed by senior managers from Dale Farm and the worthy winner was announced at the Loughry awards ceremony.

Mike Mullan, HR and Business Improvement Director for Dale Farm said ‘We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to a Loughry student. Competition for the award was of an extremely high standard and our decision was an extremely difficult one.’

Nicola Gillespie from Portglenone, was delighted to receive the award. Nicola said ‘I was over the moon to hear that I had been selected. I am now looking forward to starting my work with Dale Farm during the summer and I know the experience I will gain will be invaluable to me as I start my career within the food industry’. Nicola will be continuing her second year studies on Loughry’s Food Technology degree in September.
