Students visit Moneymore farm with Environmental focus

Greenmount National Diploma in Agriculture (NDA) students and staff recently visited the Focus farm of Mr Paul O’Hagan of Brackagh farm in the townland of Brackaghslievegallion near Moneymore. During the visit, students saw a broad range of environmental habitats including species rich wet grassland and discussed the importance of pollution control. They also saw wild bird cover and examples of hedge laying and planting. NDA student, Ciaron Quinn (from Lislea, Newry) commented that “it was great to visit someone who was so enthusiastic about environmental conservation. It was heartening to see the improvements made to the farm over many years participation in the Countryside Management scheme .”
