New Award Launched for Loughry Communication Course
17 December 2008 Students studying the postgraduate Communication programmes at Loughry Campus, Cookstown, were given a welcome boost with the launch of the W D Morrow awards. The awards will be presented to the students on both the full-time and part-time courses who receive the highest marks for their MSc research thesis. At a recent launch, held at the Campus, Mr Jim McAnlis trustee of the W D Morrow foundation stated that “he was proud to be there to launch the award and recognised how the communication programmes met the aspirations of the trust in promoting good practice within the rural community”. John Fay, Director of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), acknowledged the role that Billy Morrow played as a journalist and agricultural communicator in Northern Ireland, and thanked Mr. McAnlis for his support of the programmes. The first award will be presented at the Annual Awards ceremony at the campus in June 2009.
