- Science in Action at Loughry Campus
Sixth form pupils from schools across Northern Ireland made full use of the excellent laboratory and food manufacturing facilities at Loughry Campus, College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) to gain hands on experience of applying science in action.

‘Taking the step – food processing for farm businesses’. Increasing demands for fresh, locally produced, quality food products by today’s discerning customers have led to a growing interest by producers to add value to their farm produce through on-farm processing and retailing. This one-day workshop (Wed 15 Oct’08, Loughry Campus) will address the key issues to be considered for farm diversification into food processing.

- Bursaries Can Offer Road To Success
A number of bursaries provided by leading organisations from the agri – food and horticultural sector are available every year to CAFRE students at Greenmount Campus.
- Loughry’s Luke Moo-ves in!
Foundation Degree Food Manufacture student Luke McGovern from Bangor has not only passed all his Year 1 exams, he has also bagged himself an exciting work placement with the renowned Glastry Farm, Kirkubbin.
- The Food Apprentices
Avondale Foods sponsor a student competition at Loughry Campus to develop a range of new food products. Winning Team produced a Turkish Cinnamon Salad. All Loughry courses are practically based.
- Training Success at Loughry Campus
Highlighting the importance of food safety over 1,300 pupils from 54 schools throughout Northern Ireland attended Food Safety Training workshops at Loughry Campus, College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE).
- CAFRE’s Greenmount students celebrate their success
Some 390 students received awards at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus Awards Ceremony recently. The graduates had studied courses in agriculture, agricultural engineering, horticulture, floristry, conservation and environment at varying levels from NVQ Level 2 to Degree level
- ‘Yew’- nique opportunity for Rural & Countryside Management Graduate
Thomas Kelly, from Dungannon, is celebrating his second graduation from Greenmount Campus, CAFRE, with a FdSc in Rural & Countryside Management. After gaining his National Diploma in Horticulture from Greenmount in 2000, Thomas gained employment with the National Trust as a warden at Crom Estate, Fermanagh, but decided with support from his employer to undetake the course on a part-time basis.

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise hosted a Courses Information Day for school careers teachers and careers advisers from the Department of Employment and Learning.
- Minister presents awards at Loughry Centennial Ceremony
Minister Michelle Gildernew MP MLA presented the awards and congratulated graduates at the recent annual awards ceremony at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus. In its centenary year, approximately 120 students graduated from a range of courses in food technology, food nutrition and health, food supply management, packaging and communication.
