Equine courses at Enniskillen campus
06 March 2009

Enniskillen Campus currently provides the widest range of courses in Equine Studies in Ireland and it is holding its annual Spring Open Day on Saturday 28 March commencing 12.00 noon. This will be a great opportunity to view the campus facilities and course range. All of these courses combine opportunities to study a range of equine and business modules and good progression opportunities exist which enable students to gain higher level qualifications. Equine courses offered, incorporate a strong practical dimension and the philosophy of ‘learning by doing’ applies throughout these programmes. Excellent equestrian, classroom and residential facilities exist at the College and at Necarne Castle and these are utilised to enable students to develop both their practical and theoretical skills in a pleasant environment.

Location and facilities

We are  situated within a 136 hectare rural estate located on the outskirts of Enniskillen in the beautiful Fermanagh Lakeland. The Racing Yard and Breeding Unit are located at the Enniskillen Campus.  The campus has additional equine facilities at Necarne Castle, in Irvinestown, approximately 8 miles from the main campus.  The Necarne Estate extends to 160 hectares and facilities include stabling, an indoor arena, outdoor arenas, an International 3-day event course and a Point to Point course.

Opportunities at Enniskillen Campus

We currently offer a wide range of equine courses from First Diploma through to Degree level. In addition to completing their formal academic studies, students on these programmes have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities which compliment formal course work. These activities include the Campus Racing Club, the Show Jumping Club and the Equine Business Club.  Students also have the opportunity to obtain their Amateur jockey licence, British Horse Society exams, First Aid exams and Health and Safety certificates.  All of which gives the Enniskillen Campus students a first class experience both from an academic and practical perspective.
