Strong interest in the land-based industries
08 May 2009

The future is bright for those entering the land-based sector – that was very much the message at the recent open evening at Greenmount Campus, CAFRE. Over 500 parents, prospective students and friends heard from John Fay, CAFRE Director, in his welcome to the Campus.

There are a diverse range of opportunities within agriculture, horticulture and related sectors, and studying one of the many courses at Greenmount Campus is an ideal start for people wishing to pursue a career in these areas. The land-based sector promises challenging and diverse career paths and each year CAFRE students find satisfying and enjoyable jobs.

Visitors attending the Campus were very impressed by all that they saw but for many it was the informal, friendly atmosphere and the welcome provided by staff and students which impressed them most.

Greenmount Campus will also be holding a Horticulture Open Day on Wednesday 20 May 2009 from 2.00pm to 8.00pm. This event will consist of workshops and horticulture taster sessions and is aimed at anyone thinking of a career in horticulture or interested in learning about qualifications in this area.

Our website contains more information about this event www.cafre.ac.uk/hortopenday including a booking form. There will also be a wide range of demonstrations which our students will be undertaking during the day and taster session for those attending to so that they can get a real ‘feel’ of what horticulture is about.
