Check out the food courses at Loughry Campus
21 April 2009 Thinking of a career in the food industry? Want to know what campus life is like? Then come along to Loughry Campus Open Days and check out what Loughry has on offer! Tuesday 23 June 2009, 6 - 9 pm (Open Evening – Communication courses) Thursday 27 August 2009, 3 - 8pm (Careers Advice Day/Evening for September 2009 entry – All courses) The Open Days will provide a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the facilities and chat with staff: you might get some nice surprises, for example there are no top-up fees for degree students. During the launch of the new CAFRE course prospectuses, Ian Titterington, Head of Education Service at the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise extended an invitation to the Loughry Open Day stating “In the current economic climate, the food processing sector is better equipped to weather the financial storm than many other sectors of the economy. Major food retail businesses have reported increased sales and profits and there are better opportunities for local processors to increase sales in the UK and to export to Europe. The Northern Ireland food industry offers a wide range of exciting careers and the future is bright for the Loughry graduate. There is a growing skills shortage within the food manufacturing sector, placing Loughry graduates in huge demand. Last year’s graduates achieved almost 100 percent employment success, many securing jobs before they had even finished their final exams!” Loughry offers courses in Food, Nutrition and Health, Food Technology, and Food Supply Management. Courses are available at all levels from National Diploma, through Foundation Degree to Honours Degree, both on a full and part-time basis. If you want to find out why our graduates have virtually 100 percent employment, with starting salaries up to £22,000, then come along to our Open Day on April 28 and check out campus life.
