Sister Act!
22 September 2008 Local sisters Ursula Roberts and Pauline Gallagher have recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Personal and Business Communication offered through Queen’s University Belfast and delivered by the College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise at Loughry Campus, Cookstown. As working mothers, the suggestion of further study first seemed a daunting challenge, but after discussion with the tutors at the campus they were inspired to pursue their ambition of gaining a recognised qualification. The fact that the course was offered on a part-time basis within a reasonable travelling distance of their homes helped them to make the decision. Ursula and Pauline are pictured below with acting Chief Executive of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Alan Burke and Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Lord Morrow MLA of Clogher Valley. Reflecting on the benefits of the course the sisters commented that they are delighted with the skills they have gained and are presently transferring these skills into their working and personal lives. The Graduate Certificate recently renamed the Advanced Diploma aims to provide people with the necessary communication skills required to work in business, community or rural development sectors. It offers a unique opportunity to get back onto the learning ladder, enhance career prospects and gain a recognised Queen’s University qualification. The programme is suitable for people at all stages of their careers and is particularly relevant for those who feel that a lack of qualifications is hindering their career progression. If you are looking for a course that will give you the confidence and skills appropriate to develop yourself and enhance your career prospects then the Advanced Diploma in Personal and Business Communication could be just what you are looking for. The next programme is scheduled to begin in October, 2008 and will be delivered at Loughry Campus, Cookstown.
