    The C.R.E.A.M. student learning project at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus provides Higher National Diploma Agriculture and BSc Agricultural Technology Degree students with the unique opportunity to manage a high genetic merit Holstein herd. The herd is milked three times a day, with students carrying out the routine tasks including milking, feeding and breeding decisions
  • Team Spirit at Greenmount
    In November, first year agriculture students at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus get involved in training livestock in preparation for the College’s Young Handlers Competition an event eagerly anticipated by the students. It allows students the opportunity to develop skills in the preparation and showing of farm animals, skills that might be useful when they return to their own farms
  • Rural & Countryside Management students complete work placement
    Ryan ings completed a work placement as part of his FdSc RCM course, with the Ulster Wildlife Trust (UWT) based at the Ecos centre in Ballymena, working with Cliff Henry the UWT Reserve Manager

  • New Award Launched for Loughry Communication Course
    Students studying the postgraduate Communication programmes at Loughry Campus, Cookstown, were given a welcome boost with the launch of the W.D.Morrow awards. The awards will be presented to the students on both the full-time and part-time courses who receive the highest marks for their MSc research thesis.
  • Greenmount Association presents a charity comedy night
    The Greenmount Association presents a charity comedy night, Saturday 24 January at 8 pm in the Royal Court Hotel, Ballybogy Road, Portrush. Proceeds going to the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s. Featuring Grimes and McKee, the tractor boys, Ian Coalter story teller, music from Plug and Dom, magic by James Hanrahan and compared by David McClarty (MLA).
  • Pupils get “hands on” at Greenmount Campus
    Last week 22 pupils from Co. Antrim schools visited The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise’s, Greenmount Campus for a hands on practical, making Christmas planters.

    Loughry Campus participated in the Queen’s University Chemistry at Work exhibition, which aims to introduce 14-16 year old pupils to the application of chemistry within a range of work places. Loughry’s stand, which was visited by 470 pupils, focussed on the role and importance of ‘Acids in Foods’.
