Celebrating some extra success

Friends and family often told me that graduating at college would be one of the most memorable days of my life. How right they were!

Two years after leaving school with my GCSE qualifications and I’m eating strawberries and ice cream in the Loughry’s beautiful surroundings, having just received a National Diploma in Food Nutrition & Health.

I really enjoyed the course, particularly the “hands-on” parts. Lab work and product development sessions were my favourites.

I even volunteered for extra practical work and received my National Diploma with a Manufacturing Operations Certificate. These extra sessions are timetabled to show future employers that we’re not just academics, but that we have a working knowledge and experience of how most food commodities are manufactured. Hopefully this might give me “the edge” in any future interviews!

I’m not quite ready for the world of work just yet! I’ve decided to return to Loughry in September to begin studying for a Foundation Degree in Food Manufacture. In two short years I’ll hopefully be back here in my graduation robes with an exciting career ahead of me.
