“Having been born into a golfing family it was inevitable that I too would take up the game of golf. I have been playing golf since the age of 10 though more recently I have become more interested in how the golf course is managed and maintained. So after I finished my A-levels I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in greenkeeping.
After researching various colleges and the courses they offered, I decided upon the Greenkeeping Cadetship programme at CAFRE Greenmount Campus. I really liked the idea of a fulltime course with both academic classes and practical on-course experience, along with the attractions of student life while living on campus. The new Greenkeeping and Golf Academy showed how committed CAFRE are in creating first-class greenkeepers. I am loving all aspects of the course and it has made me really determined to succeed in my quest to become a successful greenkeeper. The generous GUI bursary has helped support my studies, and ensured a few luxuries compared to the normal student life!” Adrian McCullough, Kilkeel. |
