Student View: Valerie Orr

“ My real passion is growing plants, and the horticulture course has allowed me to develop my growing skills; last year we grew plants for the Garden Show and this year we are growing plants for Balmoral. I have also had the opportunity to learn about new crops being grown as technology projects at Greenmount and have been able to extend my knowledge in many other areas. As part of my work experience I undertook a business challenge. This is already proving valuable as I am setting up my own cut flower and Christmas tree business. Greenmount has provided me with the skills knowledge and support I need to become a professional grower.”
