Graduate Certificate in Food

Course Aim

This part-time programme has been designed to facilitate progression for candidates who have successfully achieved their Advanced Certificate in Food.

Alternatively graduates with a degree in a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) can also further enhance their knowledge and understanding in food technology and business. (Bridging studies modules may be required prior to enrolment).

This course is suitable for trainee junior/middle managers wishing to improve career progression and widen employment opportunities.

Course Content

Student will study:

  • Food product manufacture
  • Lean manufacture
  • Either Quality management or strategic business management

Course Structure

There are two 15-week semesters each year. To accommodate people working in the industry, students are required to attend half a day per week during semester 1 (September – January) and a full day per week during semester 2 (February–May).

Careers

This qualification along with your primary degree will open opportunities in a range of management level posts within the agri-food supply chain. Career options include production management, quality management, auditing or if you are within the food sector this course will give you a better understanding of the technical aspects of your business. It may just give you the ‘edge’ to progress within your chosen career structure and gives you the option of progression to a Graduate Diploma.

Either: Advanced Certificate – Food

or Graduates with a degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics related programme are eligible to apply. Depending upon the primary degree, bridging modules may be required.
