NPTC Level 3 Diploma in Floristry

This course is available to those already working with a retail florist and is being offered for the first time in September 2011. It is a practical, work related course designed to develop the skills of those already working in the industry who have achieved the NPTC Level 2 Diploma or equivalent, or who have extensive industry experience. The course is studied over 2 academic years, one day per week.

Course Content

Students study nine units in the following subject areas:

  • Creative design process for florists
  • Flower and plant care
  • Function and event decoration
  • Business skills for floristry
  • Design & evaluation: arrangements, tied, sympathy and wedding
  • Working in the floristry industry

Assessment is by practical, work related assignments.

Progression

The course aims to develop the design and business skills of those working in retail floristry. On completion of the programme students may continue in employment, start their own business or progress to higher education. Entry Requirements:

Applicants must be currently employed in retail floristry. Normally four GCSE Grade Cs or above including English and Mathematics with at least one year’s full-time employment with a retail florist.

NPTC Level 2 Diploma in Floristry, at Merit level or above, or an equivalent qualification.

Progression opportunities:

The course aims develop the skills of those working in the floristry industry. On completion of the programme students may continue in employment and progress to posts as senior florists, managers or freelance designers. There are excellent career prospects for trained florists both in the UK and abroad.
