Land-based Technology and Engineering Career Profiles

KEVIN GRIBBEN - National Diploma in Land Based Technology

Kevin qualified in June 2004 and is currently working for John McElderry Ltd (Machinery and Tractors), Ballymoney.

Kevin started as a service engineer for milking machines but now works within the tractor parts department.  In this role he is working with customers and is involved in sales.

“The first year of my course was very good as it gave me a basic knowledge of all tractor parts and their use, proving to be very useful in my current role.  The course was quite practical, and I particularly enjoyed working with machinery and ‘learning by doing'.  In the final year I found the units on accounting, sales and marketing most beneficial, as they are very relevant to my current job.  I would encourage students to spend time with a machinery firm during their work placement year”.
