Many of you will know that Loughry was first established as The Ulster Dairy School in 1908 – mainly for girls to study dairying and poultry-keeping courses. The “School” went on to become “Loughry College” and more recently a “Campus” within DARD’s College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE).
In 1961 the first Dairy Technology courses started at Loughry and in order to mark the centenary a celebration event for past Dairy Technology graduates and staff was held on 3 September 2008.
This was an informal re-union event which provided a chance to catch up with old friends, visit old haunts, have a good meal and reminisce about good times!
A round of gold at the Killymoon course was followed by guided tours of the Food Technology Centre, Hostels and other campus facilities and the re-union dinner in the Riverside Restaurant.
