Field Boundary Management including Tree and Hedge Planting

Overview

The Northern Ireland farmed landscape is characterised by field boundaries. They provide shelter for livestock, nesting cover for birds and a variety of habitats and food for wildlife. Effective management is important to ensure field boundaries are maintained so that they continue to provide shelter and a valuable habitat for wildlife.

Participants can receive accreditation for the Field Boundary Management when completed if desired.

Who is the course for?

Farmers or growers who wish to establish or maintain field boundaries.

Course Content

  • Appreciate the importance of field boundaries;
  • Identify suitable management for field boundaries on your farm;
  • Know how to plant a new hedge.
