The wide range of support services include the following: New Product DevelopmentNew Product Development (NPD) is the life-blood of the Northern Ireland Food Industry. Adding value is of huge importance. Loughry Food Technologists can assist in the development of new/improved product concepts from kitchen scale prototyping to full pilot products. Not only must factories meet statutory and legislative requirements they must also meet with the approval of customers, in particular the food retailers. Quality Systems & AuditingAdvice and guidance is provided on all aspects of quality systems from design to accreditation, including the development of policies, procedures and check sheets. Northern Ireland food companies are kept up to date on systems offered by third party systems including BRC and EFSIS. Organoleptic AssessmentTechnologists at Loughry have worked closely with industry to develop the facilities and protocols for conducting “near-market” sensory evaluation. The facility, based in the Food Technology Centre, is widely used by food businesses across all the major commodity sectors to assess new products using trained taste panellists. |
