Study Tours

Study tours are an integral part of many courses.  You will have the opportunity to travel abroad and learn from experiences gained in other countries.

HND/Foundation Degree and Honours Degree students travel to Europe appraising European structures and organisations and relating this to policy within Northern Ireland.  

Students studying agriculture visit a number of specialist farm businesses and meet representatives of the Louvain Institute for Ireland in Europe, the Conseil Européan des Jeunes Agriculteurs, the Commitè des Organisations Professionnelles Agricoles and the European Parliament where they attend seminars on EU Agricultural Policy.

Recently, equine study tours have included visits to a wide variety of equestrian establishments in Holland, Newmarket and surrounding areas.  Students on the BSc and FdSc in Equine management programmes  participate in study tours to equine businesses throughout Ireland.  

Students studying Food Technology and Supply Management recently visited Austria, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland to investigate advances in the agri-food industry.  

Horticulture students visit Europe to study different horticultural systems.  During a recent tour of the Netherlands, student visits included Keukenhof gardens, Aalsmeer flower market, Het Loo Palace and formal gardens, Ajax football stadium and specialist units.
