The CREAM herd consists of 30 high genetic merit pedigree Holstein cows which are milked three times a day. The herd is managed by HND and Degree students and co-ordinated by Stephanie Woods, Michael Graham (Farm Manager) and farm staff.

During October 2005 the CREAM herd was awarded the "John Thompson and Sons Perpetual Challenge Cup" in the Holstein NI Herds Production competition for the three times a day milking, medium sized herd section.

This is the fifth year that CREAM has been awarded the cup since 1999, which is an excellent achievement by all involved with the herd over the past few years. The cup was awarded on Friday 25 October at the annual Holstein NI dinner held in the "Adair Arms" Hotel in Ballymena. An excellent evening was enjoyed by students and staff who were in attendance. CREAM would like to thank the Holstein NI club and John Thompson and Sons for the award and trust that the achievements and success of the CREAM project at Greenmount will continue to be recognised.
