CAFRE as an educational institution aims to promote drug and alcohol awareness and will endeavour to increase the awareness of the dangers of substance abuse among all students by:

• Providing information to students in the form of seminars, leaflets etc.
• Involving outside agencies where appropriate to reinforce these messages
• Providing personal tutorial support to students from both College staff and independent, professional counsellors
• Working closely with other agencies (and parents where students are under 18) when problems have been identified
• Involve the PSNI in all instances where drugs have been found or suspected of being used by students.
• Ensuring key staff are trained in the identification of illegal substances and the symptoms of substance abuse.
• Ensuring Senior Management involvement when investigating all cases of drug abuse and in the more serious instances of alcohol abuse.
• Encouraging a responsible attitude towards alcohol consumption.
