The Enniskillen Campus Library is a major resource and the aim of the staff is to help students make the best use of lending, reference and enquiry services. The library incorporates a student workroom, private study carrels, group work area, television / video room, a soft seating area as well as a range of networked computers and printers. The student workroom has a photocopier, binder, laminator and trimmer to enable students to create resources.
There are introductory seminars for new students on all aspects of using the library and its resources.
The library is a large, bright area with a calm and welcoming atmosphere, which facilitates interaction between people and the information they need. It is people orientated and plays a vital role in teaching, learning and development work at the campus. Here you will not only find books, but also journals, reports, national and local newspapers, videos and computers with a range of electronic services including on line databases, CD ROM’s and DVDs.
The Library’s book stock has special emphasis on the topics of equestrianism, equine science, agriculture, and rural development. Wide ranges of titles are also available on business management, human resource management, science and statistics. This allows students to access information for the wide range of topics included in Campus courses.
Enniskillen is one of the CAFRE libraries, which are also part of the Government Library Services. The management system joins together 13 libraries across the Northern Ireland Civil Service and students may search the On Line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to use or borrow material from any of these libraries.
The inter-library loan scheme offered through the British Library gives students direct access to all British publications as well as some foreign publications. The Enniskillen Campus library is also connected to Heron which provides access to all major publishers and their output. Students are able to register to get access to Web of Science (WoS) which is an on-line scientific database and provides abstracts of journal articles. Cab Abstracts and Infotrac are examples of other on-line databases, which are available to students and provide information on among other topics business, environment and technology.
