Go Wild at the Greenmount Garden Open weekend
06 July 2012 Over summer 2012, Greenmount is once again pleased to open its splendid gardens for the pleasure of the public and to allow prospective students to visit Greenmount and get a feel for the campus. The gardens will be open on four separate occasions the first of which is happening on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July. So why not join CAFRE staff and representatives of RSPB for a voyage of wildlife discovery centred on the Richardson’s Walled Garden, Greenmount Campus, Antrim? Representatives from the Butterfly Conservation and Bat Group Northern Ireland will be on campus to show what we can do to help these endangered species. Family groups and budding wildlife enthusiasts are especially encouraged to come along. However this is also a weekend for the gardening public and presents a great opportunity to visit one of Ireland’s premier walled gardens, with horticultural staff on hand to answer gardening questions or advise on horticultural courses at Greenmount. Activities over the weekend include; mini-beast safaris, bird watching, pond dipping, making bird boxes and other nature inspired activities for all the family. Admission to the garden is £5 per car. The opening times are 10.30am -5pm on Saturday 7 July and 1.00pm - 6pm on Sunday 8 July. For further information on the other open weekends during July and August phone 028 9442 6601.
