Experiencing the Food Supply Chain at Loughry
20 August 2010

The Agri-food industry in Northern Ireland is so large and diverse that it offers an endless range of career opportunities, right across the supply chain.

Loughry student David Patterson is seeing this for himself during his summer work placement with Fane Valley Feeds in Omagh in their new multi-million pound mill on the outskirts of the town.

In his Quality Assurance role David is involved in ensuring raw materials and finished products are of the highest standard.

“As a food student from an agricultural background, it’s really interesting for me to get experience working at the very beginning of the food supply chain”

David returns to Loughry Campus to complete the final year of his National Diploma course and is looking forward to a promising career.

The food industry in Northern Ireland needs you! If you’ve just completed GCSE or A-levels come along to Loughry’s Open Evening on Thursday 26 August and find out why.
