Browse aloud

By using a program called Browse Aloud the CAFRE website will become speech enabled. Any visitors with reading difficulties will be able to position the mouse over an area of the web page, which in turn will be spoken out. This program can be downloaded from the Browse Aloud websiteExternal link

Customising the Appearance of the Site

This site is designed according to the recommendations of the Learning Skills Development Agency (LSDA) to ensure accessibility to students with specific learning difficulties. It uses Arial font size 14 in black against a white background to improve readability in the main bodies of text.

You may alter the page font or layout to meet your own requirements. Most browsers allow you to change the font of web sites. Instructions are given below for a range of browsers.

  • Internet Explorer (Win) - Go to menu view/text size and select a size. Or you can press Ctrl and use your mouse wheel to select font size.
  • Firefox - Go to menu view/text size and select increase or decrease. Or you can press Ctrl and use your mouse wheel to select font size. Firefox can use a much larger rnage of font sizes than internet explorer.
  • Opera - Go to menu/zoom and select a percentage zoom size. Or you can press Ctrl and use you mouse wheel to zoom in and out. Opera zooms into the page rather than changing actual font size. This allows the layout to remain unchanged while changing the size of images and text.
  • Safari (Mac) - From the Safari menu select Preferences. Click Appearances. To change the font click the appropriate Select button. Use the slider button to change font size.
