CAFRE Apprentice wins UK Retail Butchery Student of the Year
Ballymena butcher, Christopher Quigley has been awarded the title of UK Retail Butchery Student of the Year by the Institute of Meat and Worshipful Company of Butchers.
A delighted Christopher picked up his prize at a gala luncheon in the prestigious surroundings of the Tallow Chandlers Hall in the City of London.
Christopher was accompanied by his employer Mr Kieran McAtamney from the well-known Ballymena based butchery, delicatessen and manufacturing business, K&G McAtamney.
Citing the reasons why Christopher was selected for the award, sponsored by The National Federation of Meat & Food Traders, the audience were told of his natural aptitude towards product quality, his ability to introduce new and exciting ideas of his own, and his dedication to customer service.
Also present was Christopher’s mentor and assessor from the College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise, Loughry Campus – Nicola Kerr. “Christopher has really embraced the opportunity offered through the Apprenticeship programme. His enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge make him a worthy winner of this award”
